Sespel receives RS approval for a new cryogenic tank container model

During the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping's Containers and Container Transport conference, RS issued a Certificate of Approval for a new cryogenic tank container model manufactured by Sespel in Cheboksary.
The second day of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping's Containers and Container Transport conference featured informative presentations and lively discussions on pressing container industry issues, alongside a formal presentation of RS documents for partner companies' products. The conference is a key industry event where representatives of the classification society, manufacturers, carriers and regulatory authorities discuss container transport safety and the approval of new types of equipment for operation.
During the event, RS issued a Certificate of Approval for a new cryogenic tank container model manufactured by Sespel in Cheboksary. This equipment is designed to transport refrigerated liquefied gases, including nitrogen, argon, oxygen and methane, at extremely low temperatures down to −196 °C.
The Certificate of Approval confirms that the tank container design meets the applicable requirements of the Russian Federation's international agreements and authorises series production of this model. The document was presented to the plant's director, Vladimir Bakshaev.
Developing new cryogenic tank container types is an important step in expanding the company's tank and vessel business. Sespel previously completed the full development cycle for a T75 tank container designed to carry refrigerated liquefied gases by road, rail and sea. Testing was performed under the technical supervision of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, resulting in type approval certificates for both the prototype and series production.
Approval of the new model opens up opportunities in cryogenic transport, where equipment must meet the highest standards of leak tightness, safety and resistance to extreme temperatures. Demand for this equipment spans the oil and gas, chemical, metallurgical and aerospace industries, as well as Russia's rapidly developing LNG logistics sector.
