Friction stir welding system with ultrasonic inspection

Cheboksary Enterprise Sespel CJSC and National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University jointly developed a friction stir welding machine with ultrasonic assistance.
The machine was designed and manufactured for relatively small products with flat geometry. For these applications, a system allowing the welding head to travel 5–6 metres while maintaining its path and all process parameters is an effective solution. Ultrasonic weld inspection lets the operator monitor all welding parameters visually on a computer screen. The parameters are also archived on the computer’s solid-state drive for subsequent analysis.
