Sespel СТП-14М friction stir welding system with a vacuum table

Designed and manufactured by Cheboksary Enterprise Sespel CJSC, the system mills edges and friction stir welds aluminium panels. It produces cylindrical blanks for various mechanical engineering and chemical industry applications.

The system works closely with 16-metre plate rolls to produce finished cylindrical blanks with longitudinal welds, ensuring precise geometry and high-quality joints.

The machine supports weld lengths of up to 14 metres and single-pass thicknesses of up to 30 mm, making it suitable for a wide range of large aluminium alloy products.

Friction stir welding produces high-quality, defect-free joints without internal stresses or distortion and provides an environmentally clean process. Milling the edges before welding ensures accurate alignment and consistent weld quality.
