Sespel completes shipment of six aluminium silos to Barnaul

Sespel has fulfilled its contract to supply six aluminium silos to Barnaul: two with a capacity of 200 m³ and four of 100 m³. The first batch was shipped in February 2026, and the customer accepted the remaining units on 25 March. The silo shells are made from extruded aluminium profiles using friction stir welding (FSW).
Sespel has successfully completed the delivery of six aluminium silos for bulk material storage to Barnaul. A commercial proposal for the project was received on 1 August 2025: the customer in Altai Krai requested two 200 m³ silos and four 100 m³ silos. The first three units, one of 100 m³ and two of 200 m³, were shipped on 12 February 2026. The customer accepted the remaining silos on 25 March 2026, completing the contract.

Design features
The silos are monolithic structures manufactured using friction stir welding (FSW). Each shell is made from extruded aluminium profiles, providing low weight, strength and high corrosion resistance. The weld face is on the outside of the shell, with no additional machining required. FSW produces a smooth, leak-tight seam without defects, pores or internal stresses.

Sespel aluminium silos are designed to store a wide range of bulk materials, from grain and animal feed to polymer raw materials and cement. They do not require regular painting or corrosion protection and withstand aggressive environments and temperature changes. The smooth interior prevents material from sticking and simplifies maintenance. These silos have a service life of at least 50 years.
