Sespel gantry machines

The video shows finish machining of an orthotropic deck panel for an aluminium road bridge on a Sespel gantry milling machine. This process delivers the accuracy and surface quality required for subsequent assembly and operation.

The orthotropic panel was welded from hollow aluminium profiles on a specialised friction stir welding (FSW) machine. This process produces strong, reliable joints without additional materials and ensures high weld quality.

The finished aluminium panel measured 6.5 metres long and 2.6 metres wide. These dimensions demonstrate the versatility and capacity of Sespel equipment, which can machine large parts with high precision.

Gantry milling machines and FSW systems enable the full production cycle, from welding to finishing, at a single facility, improving efficiency and shortening lead times for complex structures.
